Indigenous peoples were the first to discover the benefits of incorporating charcoal into compost to create hyper-fertile soil. Modern scientists around the world are uncovering the vast benefits of biochar compost.
Through experience and research, we discovered that biochar compost overcomes the various regional challenges, such as sandy soil, pine debris, and runoff from buildings & roadways.

The Florida Biochar Initiative originated as a collaboration between the organizers of Radical Roots and BYTE: BackYard-to-Table. Together, we determined that soil health and fertility was a critical basis for establishing local agriculture.
